It has yet to be confirmed if the strike will start from Mon 03 July. We will try and keep you all posted on what is happening in the area and if it is safe to come and collect.
Dear Industry Employer
The Main Agreement negotiations in the MEIBC continued on 5 and 6 July 2017.
The parties to the Council were unable to reach agreement on the issues in dispute. These two days were the last dates scheduled for the formal negotiations and therefore the parties are now in deadlock.
NUMSA indicated that they will be requesting a certificate of non-resolution at the next Management Committee meeting which is scheduled for 21 July. However, in terms of the dispute resolution procedure of the Council, any union party who referred a dispute may issue notice of strike 30 days after the date of the dispute even if no certificate has been issued. This effectively means that the unions may issue a strike notice of their intention to strike at any time after 16 July.
It must however be noted that, according to NUMSA's correspondence, it is unlikely that a strike notice will be issued before 27 July.
We will continuously inform employers as developments unfold.
